Center for Voice and Swallowing Disorders

Welcome to the Voice and Swallowing Center – dedicated to pioneering the diagnosis and treatment of voice and swallowing disorders. Established in 1990, the Center for Voice and Swallowing Disorders of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center is part of the Voice and Swallowing GroupDepartment of Otolaryngology.

The Voice Center is devoted to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of voice disorders. The research and clinical activities of the Voice Center are multidisciplinary, and involve laryngology, speech pathology, neurology, gastroenterology, and vocal pedagogy.

The Voice Center’s unique, multidisciplinary approach attracts patients from around our region and across the nation. Our patients include not only professional singers and actors, but all professional voice users including attorneys, clergy, teachers, doctors, and telephone operators (to name a few!). Our team includes laryngologists and speech-language pathologists. We also work closely with other specialists, including gastroenterologists, pulmonologists and neurologists.
