PRESIDENT HONORS OUTSTANDING EARLY-CAREER SCIENTISTS
President Obama today named 100 beginning researchers as recipients of the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers, the highest honor bestowed by the United States government on young professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers. The recipient scientists and engineers will receive their awards in the Fall at a White House ceremony. We are proud to announce that Dr. Felicia Goodrum, a 1998 graduate of the Molecular Genetics and Genomics Program, is among the recipients. Felicia did her graduate work in the laboratory of David Ornelles (Microbiology/Immunology). She is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Immunobiology at the University of Arizona. She is currently studying the interactions between cytomegalovirus and host cells that culminate in latency using primary human hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPCs). Congratulations Felicia!
