The students in the Department come from a diverse group of undergraduate institutions across the United States and abroad. Generally speaking, the students that select our department share a common desire to participate in a training program that provides personalized, small-group learning experiences coupled with outstanding research facilities.
Typically, our students complete their doctoral work over a period of 4.5-5.5 years: a little over 5 years being the average length of tenure in the program. The strong mentoring provided by the faculty mentors as well as the high-level involvement of the student's Graduate Advisory Committee (usually 3 departmental faculty, one non-departmental faculty member and the departmental Chair or the Chair’s representative) help our students to make sustained progress toward the completion of their graduate work.
We would like you to meet our students and review their thoughts about their experiences in our graduate program.
