Postdoctoral fellows and trainees have the opportunity to experience cutting-edge science and present their own research in multiple settings:

Postdoctoral fellows and trainees participate in the departmental weekly seminar series and will present their own work to the department.  Two faculty members will provide feedback on the quality of the presentation and suggest improvements where needed.

Fellows will have the opportunity to listen to faculty-directed research in the Comprehensive Cancer Center seminar series.

Furthermore, postdoctoral trainees organize their own monthly seminar series in which they give mock interview presentations to their peers and invited faculty.  This specialized seminar series provides the opportunity to practice the presentation that will be required at invited interviews.  The purpose is to provide constructive suggestions that may improve these presentations.

Several topic-based tutorials are offered that cover a wide range of topics from cell biology, DNA damage and repair to nanomedicine.  Depending on their research topic, fellows are encouraged to participate in at least one of these tutorials.

All departmental postdoctoral fellows meet with the program directors quarterly to discuss any problems and suggestions that may have occurred.  Additionally, the program directors provide individualized mentoring where necessary.

Postdoctoral fellows furthermore choose a mentor whose will advise them in career choices and provide help in any career-related problems.
