The intensive outpatient chemical dependency program in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine is dedicated to providing exceptional care using highly trained professionals in the field of chemical dependency. Our approach is one of caring and focused treatment that maximizes the potential of each patient on the road to recovery. We provide an individualized, structured, continuing program of recovery to aid individuals in achieving and maintaining recovery.

• 12-Step Orientation
• Random Drug Screening
• Family Education in Therapy
• Relapse Prevention
• Continuing Care Programs

Admission Criteria

• Diagnosis of alcoholism or other chemical dependencies
• Willingness and ability to participate in treatment
• Not dangerous to self or others to the point of requiring hospitalization
• Withdrawal symptoms, if any, to be managed in an outpatient setting
• Willingness and ability to assume financial responsibility

Each session is designed to cover a wide range of topics related to chemical dependency and recovery. Topics include:

• Spirituality and recovery
• Preventing slips and relapses
• Triggers
• Family rules/roles
• The whole person concept of recovery
• Recovery versus abstinence
