Transporting Children

Infant Transport Service transports critically ill children up to age 4 to the Intensive Care Nursery or the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Brenner Children's Hospital.

Infant Transport Service serves a 20-county region of northwest North Carolina and southern Virginia.

The Infant Transport Team

The Infant Transport team consists of registered nurses and respiratory therapists who are trained in the transport of newborns and specialize in the care of critically ill children.

To Request Infant Transport Service

Referring physicians can request the Infant Transport Service by calling the Physician’s Access Line (PAL®) at 800-277-7654. The ambulance will be on the road within 20 minutes of the call, and the helicopter will be airborne within 10 minutes.
