Heart Center Specialties
As an academic medical center, Wake Forest Baptist has the advantage of not only providing excellent patient care within our Heart Center, but also using, developing and teaching the latest and most important techniques for that care.
Our Heart Center physicians provide patients with expertise from the simplest cardiac problem through to the most technical, whether the needs are diagnostic imaging, clinical care, electrophysiology, surgery, or a heart transplant.
Our specialists are among the best in the country.
For example, our Heart Center exceeds the national standard for treating emergency chest pain with balloon angioplasty: the American College of Cardiology recommended time is 90 minutes. WFUBMC Heart Center time is about 66 minutes.
The Heart Center has again demonstrated its expertise and commitment to quality patient care and received Chest Pain Center accreditation for the next 3 years from the Society of Chest Pain Centers Accreditation Review Committee. The Society of Thoracic Surgeons gave our Heart Center its highest rating: 3 stars.
In addition, Wake Forest Baptist is the only Level I Trauma Center in the region.
