A Comparison of Scalp Blood Flow and Hair Shaft In Premenopausal Women versus Postmenopausal Women

What we are studying

This study is being done to help us understand how the scalp ages and its possible connection with blood flow and how it effects the hair. In this study we will be comparing two ages groups, pre-menopausal women and post-menopausal women, and evaluating if there is a difference in the blood flow to their scalps and the appearance of their hair.

  • Ages 19+

Eligibility Criteria

  • Healthy females 19-25 years of age
  • Healthy females 60 years of age and older
  • Must have hair at least 2 inches long
  • Must be willing to have hair clipped and shaved to 1 mm in a quarter size test site
  • Must be a non-smoker for the past 6 months
  • Cannot have hypertension
  • Diabetes or other neurological disease
  • Cannot be pregnant or nursing

What is involved

  • Two visits (Baseline and 48 hours later)

Compensation

Participants will be paid $200.00 for completing all scheduled study visits
