New Treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

What we are studying

The purpose of this research study is to test a new way to treat severe OCD that has not improved despite long-term treatment.

Who we are studying

  • Men and Women
  • Races:
    • White
    • African American
    • Asian
    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 18 - 75

Eligibility Criteria

  • Diagnosed with severe obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • No improvement of symptoms after at least 5 years of treatment with medication and behavior therapy

What is involved

  • Screening visit
  • 1 baseline visit
  • 1 pre-operative visit
  • Surgical procedure to implant device
  • Follow-Up visits monthly for the first 3 months; every 3 months for the rest of the first year; and every 6 months for the remaining years of the study
